compõem a amostra.
This study have as its main goal, to analyze the opinions of two groups of parents, one urban and another of rural context, on the importance the family relationship and its influence for the children´s socialization, learning and education success in relation to the municipality of Cubal in the Benguela Province, Republic of Angola. The study was based on a sample of 50 families living in the Cubal municipality area and involved a total of 175 people, being 100 parents and 75 children between 9 and 12 years old. The research was developed on the spot within the referred municipality area during the period of 5th August to 2nd September 2011. The main instrument adopted for data collecting and analyzing was a questionnaire (see annex) to be filled up by the families selected as appropriate sample. Results show that, in synthesis: the family environment is generally considered good; the parents are well engaged in the school education of their children, although some of them show difficulty to do so; a vast majority of children attend school and have positive results although some do not succeed. The results also confirm that there is a correlation between a good family environment, including the parents help in the school home work, and the social behavior and academic success of their children. Finally, results shows that although a majority of parents assume that they participate in the school activities and also in school teacher´s meetings a significant part of them don´t do so. Based on this we consider that there is a need to reinforce the mutual relationship between the families and the school to the benefit of the children in this phase of their educational development.
