Conscienciosidade e a Abertura à Experiência.
The aim of the present study was to understand how resilience is related to stressful life events and personality, in a sample of 319 adults (77,7% female and 22,3% male), with an average age of 35,68 (SD=13,44), through a protocol consisting of the following measures: Sociodemographic Questionnaire, Resilience Scale for Adults (RSA), Life Stressor Checklist (LSC) and the Big Five Inventory (BFI). The results revealed positive correlations between Resilience and Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness and Openness to Experience. In contrast, Resilience was negatively correlated with Neuroticism and Stressful Life Events. It was not possible to observe significant correlations between Stressful Life Events and most personality traits, with the exception of Openness to Experience. Compared to the less resilient individuals, the more resilient individuals had significantly higher scores in the Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness and Openness to Experience dimensions, and lower scores in the Neuroticism dimension. The Stressful Life Events score did not differ significantly between the groups. This study contributed to a better understanding of resilience, stressful life events and personality constructs, and the association between them.
