Resumo
As doenças biliares extra-hepáticas têm sido cada vez mais observadas na prática clínica
de pequenos animais. Existem diversas afeções descritas em veterinária que ocorrem na vesícula
biliar e no trato biliar. Esta dissertação teve como objetivo a revisão bibliográfica sobre o tema,
doenças da vesícula biliar e sistema extra-hepático no cão, com apresentação de três casos clínicos.
Mucocele biliar, colecistite, colelitíase e neoplasia biliar extra-hepática são doenças da
vesícula biliar que se podem manifestar com sinais clínicos leves ou, em casos extremos, levar à
morte do animal. Os cães afetados tendem a apresentar vómito, anorexia, dor abdominal e icterícia.
O diagnóstico é realizado através do quadro clínico e a história do animal assim como alterações
laboratoriais, imagiológicas e histopatológicas da vesícula biliar. Uma das abordagens terapêuticas
é a cirurgia, através da técnica de colecistectomia, no entanto, a terapia medicamentosa também é
utilizada. O prognóstico muitas vezes depende da condição física do animal, da cirurgia e da
existência de doenças concomitantes.

Extrahepatic biliary diseases have been increasingly observed in small animal clinical practice. There are several affections described in veterinary medicine that occur in the gallbladder and biliary tract. This dissertation aimed to review the literature on the subject, diseases of the gallbladder and extrahepatic system in the dog, with presentation of three clinical cases. Biliary mucocele, cholecystitis, cholelithiasis and extrahepatic biliary neoplasia are diseases of the gallbladder that can manifest with mild clinical signs or, in extreme cases, lead to the death of the animal. Affected dogs tend to experience vomiting, anorexia, abdominal pain, and jaundice. The diagnosis is made through the clinical presentation and the history of the animal, as well as laboratory, imaging and histopathological alterations of the gallbladder. One of the therapeutic approaches is surgery, through the cholecystectomy technique, however, drug therapy is also used. The prognosis often depends on the physical condition of the animal, the surgery and the existence of concomitant diseases. Keywords: bile; dog; disease; extrahepatic; gallbladder.
