A ferramenta

Virtual reality (VR) has been regarded as a promising tool for the rehabilitation of offenders due to its ability to provide immersive experiences adaptable to various perspectives, thus facilitating behavioral and mental changes. To identify the impact of using VR in offender rehabilitation, this study conducted a systematic literature review on this topic. The research was conducted on the b-on online database platform and encompassed studies published between 2013 and 2023 in English, Portuguese, and Spanish. Studies that utilized VR in the context of rehabilitation with offenders or individuals exhibiting aggressive behavior were included. Out of 1748 articles identified, 6 met the eligibility criteria (2 feasibility studies involving children with aggressive behavior and 4 randomized controlled trials involving adult offenders). The methodological quality was assessed through the Joanna Briggs tool. The results highlight the levels of motivation among offenders for therapy, the satisfaction levels of both offenders and therapists with the therapy, behavioral changes, adverse effects, and the feasibility of using VR. The technological tool suggests a positive impact on the development of emotional regulation and its relevance in forensic populations and contexts. However, further research in this emerging area is crucial. Keywords: Virtual Reality; Offender Rehabilitation; Aggressive Behavior; Forensic Mental Health
