Aportes para pensar los futuros de la educación en contextos complejos : una aproximación desde América Latina y el Caribe

Resumo
América Latina e o Caribe apresentam desigualdades estruturais desde sua origem, tanto pela distribuição injusta da riqueza quanto pelas desigualdades de gênero, étnicas, raciais e territoriais. Os sistemas educacionais foram formados a partir da segunda metade do século XIX sob o papel principal do Estado na provisão e financiamento da educação pública. Atualmente, a maioria dos países tornou o ensino médio legalmente obrigatório e expandiu os direitos ao ensino superior. No entanto, existem dívidas pendentes com os setores mais desprotegidos socialmente. Este artigo tem como objetivo identificar algumas características da situação atual da educação na região e contribuir para uma reflexão prospectiva sobre uma educação inclusiva e emancipatória, a partir de uma perspectiva latino-americana e caribenha. Em um momento particularmente delicado devido à incerteza e crise provocada pela pandemia COVID-19, um debate global sobre a educação constitui um desafio e uma oportunidade de tornar visíveis as vozes e realidades múltiplas e diversas.
Latin America and the Caribbean presents structural inequalities from its origin, both due to the unfair distribution of wealth and due to gender, ethnic, racial and territorial inequalities. Educational systems were formed from the second half of the 19th century under the main role of the State in the provision and financing of public education. Currently, most countries have made secondary education legally compulsory and have expanded rights to higher education. However, there are outstanding debts with the most socially unprotected sectors. This article aims to identify some features of the current situation of education in the region and contribute to a prospective reflection on an inclusive and emancipatory education, from a Latin American and Caribbean perspective. At a particularly sensitive time due to the uncertainty and crisis brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, a global debate on education constitutes a challenge and an opportunity to make multiple and diverse voices and realities visible.
