The world suffers the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, affecting society with vertiginous changes. Institutions urgently restructured their functioning; change and the pandemic's impact led to consequences for the multidisciplinary working team such as feeling tired and stressed in their daily routines. This investigation focuses on the leadership style around the role of the Director of the Residential Structure for Elderly People (ERPI) and its dynamics between the fundamental elements of leadership: the group, the influence, the situation, the motivation, and the objectives, in the achievement of results and overcoming difficulties throughout the pandemic. The theme “Leading in times of change - Case Study: the pandemic´s impact on the Senior Residence Avós Arco-Íris” results from the need to evaluate the leadership and management of the work in a Residential Structure for Elderly People (ERPI). To this end, the empirical data obtained in the investigation will be assessed through a mixed analysis. The study sample is equal to the universe, considering in this sample the sixteen elements of the multidisciplinary team of both sexes, aged between 25 and 62 years, represented by the Director (DT), the social worker, the doctor, the nurse, the general supervisor, the general coordinator, the activities’ professional and elderly home assistants (AAD). Leadership is a key factor for the functioning of a team, essential to the emotional commitment and establishment of interpersonal relationships between the leader and the collaborators, facilitating the management of the work and the general well-being of the Institution. Analyzing the results of the investigation acquired in the semi-structured interview with the multidisciplinary team and the users, as well as in the questionnaire carried out with the elderly home assistants, where the analysis of the leadership, satisfaction, motivation, and fatigue of the team of ERPI was conducted, as well as the opinion of the users, about Covid-19 and what it brought as a new acquisition to the elderly home. It is considered that, despite the weariness and the hardships experienced, there is a positive leadership with the union of the multidisciplinary group, and a common goal, the well-being of the elderly.
