Since its independence, in July 1975, the country has been achieving important results in order to ensure the conditions for its development pro cess. However, despite its dependence on external factors, Cape Verde has used its influence to transform difficulties into opportunities, as is the case with tourism, which from the 1990s onwards, with the political opening, this sector of activity has been gai ning more and more importance and is seen as one of the key factors for its economic development. In fact, Cape Verde today is considered a tourist destination par excellence, with great potential. Due to these potentialities, the tourist demand on the part of several markets has been growing, and this creates the need for a greater internal incentive in order to develop this sector in the best possible way. In this context, the purpose of this dissertation, on the one hand, is to analyze the impact of tourism on the economy of Cape Verde as a small island state in development, based on the principle that, in the country, there are numerous unfavorable internal factors, namely the scarcity of resources natural resources, insularity, territorial discontinuity, and the arid, hot and dry climate. On the other hand, it is to analyze what has been the impact of tourism on the country's economy in the context before and after the Covid 19 pandemic.
