A sexualidade nos jovens na perspetiva dos estudantes do ensino superior : do conceito à prática

Este estudo centra-se na problemática da sexualidade dos jovens, considerando a
perspetiva dos estudantes do ensino superior. As transformações socioculturais, que têm
vindo a acontecer nas últimas décadas, contribuíram para a mudança de paradigma da
vivência da sexualidade. Centrados nas evidências científicas, procuramos investigar o
impacto nas atitudes e comportamentos do conceito de sexualidade interiorizado pelos
estudantes do ensino superior. A partir da reflexão sobre o conceito,as atitudes e os
comportamentos analisamos perceções das vivências da sexualidade, tal como explicitadas
pelos estudantes.
Trata-se de um estudo multimétodo, estruturado em dois momentos de investigação. No
primeiro, assente numa abordagem qualitativa, foram realizadas entrevistas a seis peritos na
área da sexualidade humana. No segundo, com uma abordagem quantitativa, foi aplicado
um questionário, a 3633 estudantes do ensino superior, do distrito do Porto.
Os resultados obtidos permitem-nos concluir que o conceito de sexualidade, tal como
perspetivado pelos estudantes, com as suas sub-dimensões, se encontra muito focalizado
na dimensão biológica. Em acréscimo, embora as atitudes e os comportamentos influenciem
a vivência da sexualidade, verificam-se diferenças significativas entre os sexos.
Como consequência do estudo efetuado, revela-se necessária a implementação de
programas de educação para a sexualidade, para este nível de ensino.
The central theme of this study is the young adults’ sexuality, considering the perspective of college students. In the past few decades the sociocultural changes led to a shift in the paradigm of living the sexuality. Focused in scientific evidence, we aim to investigate the impact that attitudes and behaviors have on the college students’ concept of sexuality. Departing from the reflection about the concept, the attitudes and behaviors, we analyze the perception of the living of the sexuality, as explained by the students. It’s a multi method study, structured into two investigation moments. The first one is a qualitative approach, by interviewing six experts in the area of the human sexuality. The second one is a quantitative approach, using a questionnaire distributed by e-mail, constituting a sample of 3633 college students of Oporto district. The results obtained allow us to conclude that the concept of sexuality, as envisaged by the students, its sub dimensions, is very focused into the biological dimension. In addition, although the attitudes and behaviors influence the living of the sexuality, there are statically significant differences between genders. As a consequence of this study, there’s a revealing necessity to implement sexuality educational programs, at this level of teaching.
