Identificação e atendimento das altas capacidades em instituições de acolhimento residencial em Tenerife

Resumo
Um estudante apresenta altas capacidades quando maneja e relaciona de maneira simultânea e eficaz múltiplos recursos cognitivos, dos tipos: lógico numérico, espacial, memória, verbal e criativo, se sobressaindo excepcionalmente em um desses recursos ou em vários deles. O objetivo deste artigo é identificar e atender as altas capacidades em crianças e adolescentes de instituições de acolhimento residenciais, em Tenerife, Espanha. A investigação foi definida de natureza exploratória e de caráter descritivo. O estudo foi desenvolvido em 15 instituições de acolhimento residencial, em Tenerife e em uma instituição de ensino superior. Os participantes foram 22 educadores dessas instituições. Foi utilizada a Escala de Apreciación para educadores/as. Os resultados demonstraram que haviam 156 acolhidos nas instituições, sendo predominantemente adolescentes, entre 15 e 17 anos. Em relação ao gênero ocorreu uma pequena predominância de meninos e seis foram indicados com altas capacidades. Os acolhidos foram sinalizados nos domínios de: inteligência geral, criatividade, socioafetivo e verbal. O atendimento foi oferecido aos identificados e mais três indicados, a priori, pelos profissionais das instituições. Os nove acolhidos foram encaminhados ao Programa de atendimento Descubriendónos, na universidade participante. Assim, evidencia-se a importância em identificar e atender altas capacidades em instituições de acolhimento.
A student presents high abilities when he or she simultaneously and effectively manages and relates multiple cognitive resources of the following types: numerical logic, spatial, memory, verbal, and creative, excelling exceptionally in one or several of these resources. The aim of this article is to identify and offer educational service to high abilities in children and adolescents in residential care institutions in Tenerife, Spain. The research was defined as exploratory and descriptive. The study was developed in 15 residential care institutions in Tenerife and in one higher education institution. The participants were 22 educators from these institutions. The Escala de apreciación para educadores was applied on them. The results showed that there were 156 participants in the institutions, predominantly adolescents between 15 and 17 years old. In relation to gender, there was a small predominance of boys. As for identification, six were indicated as having high abilities. They were identified in the following domains: general intelligence, creativity, socio-affective, and verbal. The assistance was offered to those identified by the instrument and three ones indicated, a priori, by the professionals of the institutions. The nine ones were referred to the Descubriendónos Program, at the participating university. Thus, it is evident the importance to identify high abilities and offer service in the sheltering institutions.
