A presente investigação propõe um modelo de criação de franchises transmédia com
génese na banda desenhada resultante da investigação efetuada na componente teórica e da
construção do franchise de ficção especulativa intitulado Crónicas do Tempo e do Espaço na
componente prática. Na componente teórica, enquadrada no transmédia no cinema, o enfoque
foi dado em áreas como a banda desenhada (BD), a ficção especulativa, a pré-produção
cinematográfica, o storytelling e o worldbuilding. Procurou-se definir e compreender como
estas áreas se articulam no desenvolvimento de um franchise transmediático. Na componente
prática, várias metodologias e estratégias foram aplicadas na construção de um universo
ficcional expandido que se materializou num conjunto de guiões que foram posteriormente
adaptados para o meio da banda desenhada e publicados e promovidos de diferentes formas,
recorrendo a diversos meios. Vários elementos relacionados com o storyworld das Crónicas
do Tempo e do Espaço foram compilados numa Bíblia de Produção que, em conjunto com as
narrativas publicadas no formato de banda desenhada, permitirão o contacto com
colaboradores independentes e produtoras de audiovisuais e de videojogos para a futura
transmediação do universo ficcional produzido. Todo o processo teórico-prático permitiu o
desenvolvimento de um modelo para a criação de franchises transmédia composto por quatro
fases que correspondem à pré-produção de um storyworld expandido, produção de uma banda
desenhada que permitirá o lançamento do franchise, compilação de materiais numa Bíblia de
Produção que servirá o propósito de contactar colaboradores e empresas que permitam
alcançar a última etapa do modelo – a disseminação transmediática da propriedade intelectual.
A fase da transmediação apresenta três categorias de transmedia storytelling –
intracomposicional, intercomposicional e complexo – e três tarefas essenciais – design da
narrativa, design da experiência e design da interação – que permitem alcançar a
transmediação através de pelo menos três média distintos.

The present investigation proposes a model for creating transmedia franchises where comics are the starting point, resulting from research carried out in the theoretical component and the construction of the speculative fiction franchise entitled Crónicas do Tempo e do Espaço in the practical component. In the theoretical component, framed in transmedia in cinema, the focus was given to areas such as comics, speculative fiction, film pre-production, storytelling and worldbuilding; we tried to define and understand how these areas are articulated in the development of a transmedia franchise. In the practical component, several methodologies and strategies were applied in the construction of an expanded fictional universe that materialized in a set of scripts that were later adapted for the comics’ medium and published and promoted in different ways, using different platforms. Several elements related to the storyworld of Crónicas do Tempo e do Espaço were compiled in a Production Bible that, in conjunction with the narratives published in comic book format, will allow the contact with independent collaborators and audiovisual and video game producers for future transmediation of the fictional universe developed for the investigation. The whole theoretical-practical process allowed the development of a model for the creation of transmedia franchises composed of four phases that correspond to the pre-production of an expanded storyworld, production of a comic that will allow the launch of the franchise, the compilation of materials in a Bible of Production that will serve the purpose of contacting collaborators and companies that will allow reaching the last stage of the model – the transmedia dissemination of a specific intellectual property. The transmediation phase presents three categories of transmedia storytelling – intracompositional, intercompositional and complex – and three essential tasks – narrative design, experience design and interaction design – that allow achieving the transmediation status through at least three different media.
