O papel do Serviço Social na resposta à pandemia da covid-19 : práticas, dificuldades e desafios

A pandemia da covid-19 obrigou a uma reestruturação das práticas do Serviço Social, colocando novos desafios no campo de intervenção. O presente estudo tem por objetivo analisar as práticas do Serviço Social na resposta à pandemia da covid-19, no território de Loures, configurando-se para tal a seguinte questão de partida: Qual foi a importância do papel do Serviço Social na resposta à pandemia da covid-19? Para os fins propostos, utilizou-se uma metodologia qualitativa, com recurso aos instrumentos de recolha de dados, entre os quais, a análise documental, e a entrevista semiestruturada aplicada a quinze assistentes sociais do Serviço de Atendimento e Acompanhamento Social de Loures, dando a conhecer a intervenção do Serviço Social (práticas, dificuldades e desafios) no contexto pandémico. Dos resultados obtidos destacam-se a capacidade de reinvenção, a criatividade e resiliência dos profissionais, e as dificuldades e desafios enfrentados, pautados sobretudo por um aumento da volumetria de trabalho e pelo alargamento e complexificação do sistema-cliente, bem como a perceção dos assistentes sociais face ao papel do Serviço Social na resposta à pandemia, qualificado de elevada importância, prestando um trabalho de excelência e imprescindível na mitigação dos danos emergentes do contexto de crise. Sugere-se ainda a realização futura de estudos com vista à avaliação do serviço prestado no âmbito da intervenção social na resposta à pandemia e dos impactos causados no processo de mudança dos indivíduos e famílias. The covid-19 pandemic forced a restructuring of Social Work practices, posing new challenges in the field of intervention. The present study aims to analyze the practices of Social Work in the response to the covid-19 pandemic, in the territory of Loures, configuring the following starting question: What was the importance of the role of Social Work in the response to the covid-19 pandemic? For the proposed purposes, a qualitative methodology was used, using data collection instruments, including document analysis, and semi-structured interviews applied to fifteen social workers from the Loures Social Care and Monitoring Service, making known the intervention of Social Work (practices, difficulties and challenges) in the pandemic context. The results obtained highlight the capacity for reinvention, the creativity and resilience of the professionals, and the difficulties and challenges faced, mainly guided by an increase in the volume of work and the expansion and complexification of the client-system, as well as the perception of social workers regarding the role of Social Work in responding to the pandemic, qualified of high importance, providing excellent and essential work in mitigating the damage emerging from the crisis context. It is also suggested that future studies be carried out with a view to evaluating the service provided within the scope of social intervention in response to the pandemic, and of the impacts caused in the process of change of individuals and families.
