Resumo
Com base nos trabalhos de Frank Lestringant, que estudam a formação da imagem calvinista do Bom Selvagem, considera-se a imagem altamente funcional do índio boçal pelos jesuítas portugueses e, em particular, nos sermões do jesuíta Antonio Vieira (1608-1697).
Based on the works of Frank Lestringant that study the formation of the Calvinism image of the Good Savage, we consider the highly functional image of the uncouth Indian provided by Portuguese Jesuits and, especially, by the sermons of the Jesuit António Vieira (1608-1697).
