Reabilitação física no pós-operatório da técnica de TPLO em cães: revisão de literatura e relato de 3 casos clínicos

Resumo
O relatório de estágio foi realizado no âmbito da conclusão do Mestrado Integrado em
Medicina Veterinária da Universidade Lusófona de Lisboa e posterior estágio curricular no
AniCura Restelo Hospital Veterinário. Teve como principal objetivo o desenvolvimento do
tema “Reabilitação física no pós-operatório da técnica de TPLO em cães” e inclui uma revisão
bibliográfica sobre o tema e descrição e discussão de 3 casos clínicos.
A rutura de ligamento cruzado cranial em cães é uma das principais causas da
claudicação dos membros pélvicos em cães. Um processo degenerativo não traumático, é a
causa mais comum para o aparecimento desta lesão.
O diagnóstico é efetuado através da realização de um exame físico detalhado e da
realização de exames complementares adequados, como o exame radiográfico, a artroscopia e
a tomografia computorizada. O tratamento aplicado pode ser conservador ou cirúrgico, sendo
que na grande maioria dos casos é efetuado via cirúrgica, por ter uma maior taxa de sucesso.
A reabilitação física é recomendada tendo em conta que a aplicação de um tratamento
multimodal, irá potenciar os resultados e recuperação do animal.
Neste relatório, estão descritos três casos clínicos com diagnóstico de rutura de
ligamento cruzado cranial, com resolução cirúrgica através de TPLO e posterior aplicação de
um protocolo de reabilitação física.

The internship report was carried out as part of the conclusion of the Integrated Master's Degree in Veterinary Medicine at Universidade Lusófona de Lisboa and subsequent curricular internship at AniCura Restelo Hospital Veterinário. Its main goal was the development of the topic "Physical rehabilitation in the post-surgical period of the TPLO technique in dogs" and includes a literature review on the subject and description and discussion of 3 clinical cases. The cranial cruciate ligament rupture in dogs is one of the main causes of pelvic limb lameness in dogs. A degenerative, non-traumatic process is the most common cause for the onset of this injury. The diagnosis is made by performing a detailed physical examination as well as appropriate complementary tests such as radiography, arthroscopy, and CT scan. The treatment applied can be conservative or surgical, and in the great majority of cases it is done surgically, because it has a higher success rate. Physical rehabilitation is recommended since the application of a multimodal treatment enhances the results and recovery of the animal. In this report, three clinical cases with diagnosis of cranial cruciate ligament rupture are described, with surgical resolution by applying the TPLO technique and with subsequent application of a rehabilitation protocol.
