This dissertation was written in order to complete the Integrated Master in Veterinary Medicine of Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias and discusses blood count with flow cytometry, as well as blood smear in dog. Includes an extensive bibliographic review and the presentation along with discussion of 4 case-studies observed during the curricular internship at the hospital of Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias. Flow cytometry is a technique used in hemograms that allows us to evaluate the physical characteristics of cells that are suspended in a liquid stream. To perform the blood test, a peripheral blood sample in a tube of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) is needed. The aim of this study is to evaluate the importance of the results obtained from the histograms, scatter plot and blood smears in order to obtain a possible final diagnosis.
