maioritariamente do género masculino (n=63; 57,8%), cultura portuguesa (n=77; 70,6%),
seguintes medidas: Escala Termómetro da Felicidade (ETF); Escala de Perseverança (EP);
A study with a transversal nature utilized a convenient and non-probabilistic sample, and pretended to investigate teenagers’ school success. The sample was constituted by 109 participants of the 7th grade from the regular teaching system, mostly male (n=63; 57,8%), following Portuguese culture (n=77, 70,6%), catholic (n=63, 57,8%)and with school success (n=80, 73,4%). The participants presented an average age of 13,14 years old (DP=1,09), comprehended between 12 and 16 years old. The protocol developed by Batista and Caeiro (2013) was utilized, and the following measurements were applied: Happiness Thermometer Scale (HTS – ETF in Portuguese); Grit Scale (GS – EP in Portuguese); Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS – EAPN in Portuguese); Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS – ESV in Portuguese) and Extended Life Orientation Test (ELOT – ELOT-PT in Portuguese). Teenagers who were simultaneously happier and had school success presented a superior average of perseverance, positive affection, optimism and satisfaction with life, and less values of negative affection and pessimism compared to the teenagers who had school success and were less happy. Following the participants with school success, the bigger the happiness levels, the bigger the levels of satisfaction with life and optimism will be, and the negative affection and pessimism levels will be smaller.
