Resumo
O presente trabalho descreve a identificação e isolamento de Corynebacterium
pseudotuberculosis e Actinomyces bovis numa vacada naturalmente infetada na região do
Ribatejo.
The present work describes the identification and isolation of Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis and Actinomyces bovis in a naturally infected herd in the region of Ribatejo. By the physical examination of the infected animals, pyogranulomatous abscesses were observed in the mandibular and retropharyngeal area, with no other clinical signs. A local puncture was done at the wounded area, after with a sample was sent to the lab, where all agents were isolated and identified. To prevent further surges and treatments, taking in consideration that this is an infectious pathology for which there are no commercial vaccines available, the choice fell upon multipurpose herd vaccination, prepared from the sample of the isolated agents previously sent, Actinomyces bovis and Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis. The vaccine was applied and eventual reactions to it were evaluated, which were deemed irrelevant. One year after the vaccine application, its effectiveness was evaluated, having the results proved its benefits, since there was a decrease in the prevalence rate.
