A informação ao doente deve ser adaptada ao seu nível de literacia. A cooperação dos farmacêuticos com outros profissionais de saúde e a sua integração no acompanhamento do doente traduz-se em maiores ganhos em saúde. Este estudo teve como objetivo comparar a informação dada ao doente na Europa e EUA, mais concretamente em Portugal, e nos EUA. Foram analisados diversos estudos na para fundamentar a análise em questão. Elaborou-se um estudo comparativo entre Portugal e os EUA sobre portais e «websites» de informação fidedigna e segura para o doente consultar. Neste âmbito, foi analisada em profundidade a importância da informação cedida pelo farmacêutico, bem como o seu papel na transmissão dessa informação e a cooperação com outros profissionais de saúde com vista a obter melhores ganhos em saúde para o doente. Os dados entre as populações em análise sustentam conclusões muito similares (ou iguais) dos temas em análise, i.e., a relevância do papel do farmacêutico na transmissão de informação ao utente. Atualmente, as fontes de informação ao doente mais emergentes são informações online, por serem de maior acessibilidade ao público (e.g. portais com informações de saúde).
Health information must be adapted to patients’ level of literacy. Cooperation between pharmacists and other health professionals and integration of pharmacist in the monitoring of patients ensure better health gains. The aim of this study was to compare the information provided to the patient in Europe and USA, more specifically in Portugal, and USA. Several studies were analyzed to support the analyzed question. A comparative study was carried out between Portugal and USA on portals and websites with reliable and safe information for patients. In this setting, the importance ofinformation provided by the pharmacist was analyzed, as well as its role in the transmission of that information and the cooperation with other health professionals in order to obtain better health gains. Among the studied populations similar (or equal) findings were found, i.e., the relevance of pharmacist's role in transmitting information to the patient. Currently, the most emerging sources of patient information are online information, as they are more accessible to the public (e.g., portals with health information).
