Nowadays, Social Media (SM) has proliferated in society, with great influence on the daily lives of individuals. However, this amplification also carries worrying consequences, and the impact of using these platforms on the functioning and psychological well-being of users is not yet clear. The main objective of this study is to analyze the relationship between different facets of the use of SM and Anxiety, Social Anxiety and Self-esteem. A sample of 603 individuals, aged over 18years, with an average age of 40.15years, participated in this study. A sociodemographic questionnaire was filled, as well as the STAY-Y, SIAS, SPS and RSES scales. The essential results showed that participants with greater Trait Anxiety spend more time on SM, regardless of being active or passive in their use. It was also possible to conclude that subjects with greater State Anxiety showed significant differences regarding the activation of notifications, as well as the need to verify their SM. Individuals with higher levels of Social Anxiety adopt whether an active or passive attitude on SM, although with greater need to check it frequently. Finally, it was observed that participants with lower self-esteem use a greater number of SM and adopt a passive attitude in their use.
