A utilização da Banda Desenhada nas aulas de História e Geografia do 3ª Ciclo e do Ensino Secundário

Resumo
As crianças e os jovens de hoje vivem imersos nas imagens, crescem com elas,
exprimem-se por elas; são constantemente solicitados pela televisão, pelos computadores, mas
também pela Banda Desenhada. A BD carrega um aspecto motivacional que pode e deve ser
aproveitado pelo universo escolar, nomeadamente em actividades pedagógicas relacionadas
com o ensino e a aprendizagem das matérias programáticas de História e Geografia. Na
presente investigação fazemos uma análise das valências da BD no ensino e para vislumbrar
melhor a relação da BD com os alunos do 3º Ciclo e ensino Secundário, assentamos a nossa
pesquisa numa investigação de cariz descritivo/qualitativo. Através da aplicação da BD nas
aulas de História e Geografia, observamos a partir dos dados recolhidos nas aulas e das
anotações pessoais, os comportamentos dos alunos face à aprendizagem que foi realizada. As
conclusões demonstram o interesse dos alunos, pelo que a aplicação da BD se torna um
recurso pedagógico e didáctico fundamental no desenvolvimento das capacidades de
observação, interpretação e síntese, numa construção salutar da oralidade e potencialização da
criatividade e da imaginação dos alunos, no combate à iliteracia textual e visual, tal como no
desenvolvimento do espírito crítico e do sentido de humor.
Children and youngsters of today live immersed in images, grow with them and express themselves through them; they are constantly engaged by television and computers, as well as by comics. Comics convey a motivational aspect that can and should be taken advantage of by the academic world, namely in pedagogical activities related to the teaching and learning of programmatic materials of History and of Geography. In the current investigation, we make an analysis of the efficacy of comics in education and, in order to take a better glimpse of the relationship of comics with students attending Middle and High School, we based our research on an investigation of a descriptive/qualitative nature. Through the application of comics to History and Geography classes, from the data gathered in the classrooms and personal annotations, we observe the students’ behaviour through the learning process. The conclusions notably demonstrate their interest and, therefore, the application of comics becomes an essential pedagogical and didactic resource in the development of observation, interpretation and synthesis capacities, within a salutary construction of articulation and the potential for creativity and the imagination of the students, in the fight against textual and visual illiteracy, just as in the development of their insight and sense of humour.
