dc.description.abstractO Caso “Bairro Baptista” em Setúbal é um projeto que visa analisar o potencial de requalificação integral do bairro tendo como ponto de partida uma obra de recuperação de uma das unidades de habitação, por nós efetuada. A conceção deste estudo surgiu da imanência contemplativa da essência holística de um espaço urbano degradado e esquecido, cuja alma emerge de forma subtil mas carismática, e de uma visão do potencial de requalificação e recuperação num contexto de modernidade e centralidade urbanas. Do ponto de vista metodológico, iremos analisar a génese da edificação do Bairro e do seu empreendedor - António José Baptista - no contexto sócio-cultural da cidade de Setúbal dos finais do século XIX, princípios do século XX. O paradigma de recuperação e requalificação pretende resgatar a essência original do Bairro respeitando a memória do seu fundador e perpetuando a sua alma, numa dinâmica de modernidade e adequação às vivências e exigências do presente e do futuro.pt
dc.description.abstractThe “Bairro Baptista” case in Setúbal is a project that aims to analyze the potential of full requalification of the neighborhoods, starting as a recovery project of one of the housing units that we have done. The conception of this study arose from the contemplative immanence of the holistic essence of a degraded and forgotten urban space, whose soul emerges in a subtle but charismatic way, and a vision of the potential for requalification and recovery in a context of urban modernity and centrality. From a methodological point of view, we will analyze the genesis of the construction of the Bairro and its entrepreneur - António José Baptista - in the socio-cultural context of the city of Setúbal of the late nineteenth century, early twentieth century. The paradigm of recovery and requalification aims to recover the original essence of the neighbourhood respecting the memory of its founder and perpetuating its soul, in a dynamic of modernity and adaptation to the experiences and demands of the present and the future.en
