As relações entre os países do Levante estão ligadas a conflitos étnico-religiosos, econômicos e geográficos. A democracia não é aplicável no mundo muçulmano, pois a soberania pertence a Allah e não ao povo. Após o reconhecimento do Estado de Israel no Levante em 1948 pela ONU, houve uma mudança drástica no cenário político. As principais questões que envolvem a paz na Palestina são: a cidade de Jerusalém, as fronteiras, os assentamentos e o retorno dos refugiados. Os conflitos e as guerras entre o Estado judeu e o povo árabe palestino são um dos principais motivos de instabilidade na região. Os europeus que estiveram no poder do Levante são acusados de fomentar a discórdia entre os dois povos. O Tratado de Paz entre Israel e Jordânia em 1994 permitiu a Jordânia administrar a área onde está a mesquita sagrada ‘Al-Aqsa’. A guerra na Síria foi patrocinada pelos Estados Unidos, pela Europa e pelos países do golfo. A crise na Síria e o grupo ‘Daesh’, que se auto denomina um califado islâmico, criaram a maior crise humanitária do mundo. Os eventos pós Primavera Árabe revelaram que os rebeldes, que lutavam na Síria para derrubar o governo, não lutavam pela democracia, mas por um Estado islâmico soberano.
The international relations of the Levant countries are related to ethnic and religious conflicts, economic and geographic. Democracy is not applicable in the Muslim world, because sovereignty belongs to Allah and not to the people. After the UN recognition of the State of Israel in the Levant in 1948, this was a drastic change in the political scenario. The main issues surrounding peace in Palestine are: the city of Jerusalem, borders, settlements and the return of Palestinian Arab refugees. This conflicts and wars between the Jewish State and the Palestinian Arab people it is one of the main reasons for instability in the region. Europeans who were in power in the Levant are accused of fomenting discord between the two people. The treaty between Israel and Jordan in 1994 allowed Jordan to manage the area where the mosque 'Al-Aqsa'. The war in Syria was sponsored by the United States, Europe and the Gulf countries. The crisis in Syria and 'Daesh' group that self named an Islamic caliphate, created the largest humanitarian crisis in the world. The post-Arab spring events, revealed that the rebels fighting in Syria to overthrow the government, are not fighting for democracy, but for an Islamic state.
