O aumento da esperança média de vida que hoje se verifica, sobretudo nas sociedades ocidentais, apresenta um aparente paradoxo. O que, à partida, tem sido visto como uma grande conquista da sociedade no que respeita à longevidade e qualidade de vida dos mais velhos, transformou-se igualmente num importante e relevante problema social, exigindo novas respostas para novas questões.
Este trabalho pretende reflectir sobre as problemáticas associadas ao envelhecimento e os contributos do Psicólogo Forense e da Exclusão Social na procura de soluções e de práticas facilitadoras e promotoras de um envelhecimento positivo. Neste sentido, é feito um enquadramento do papel dos idosos na sociedade, focando as problemáticas do envelhecimento à luz das alterações socioeconómicas, o processo de envelhecimento individual e demográfico enquanto elementos fundamentais para enquadrar os idosos na sociedade, o papel do Estado, da Sociedade Civil e as respostas que têm dado no sentido de minimizar o impacto das desigualdades promotoras de exclusão social dos mais idosos, o envelhecimento activo enquanto projecto de vida capaz de dar sentido a uma fase da vida que se pretende digna, e a inclusão enquanto elemento e modelo de intervenção, fundamental, para uma integração plena na sociedade e para a qualidade de vida. Defende-se, afinal, a importância do papel a desempenhar pelos Psicólogos da área forense e da exclusão social em todas as dinâmicas em torno do envelhecimento humano, num plano de prevenção da exclusão e de plena inclusão dos idosos nas várias áreas da vida social em que se movam.
Nowadays there´s an increase of average life expectancy and so last longer, mostly in occidental societies, however, what seems to be a great social conquer in what concerns longevity and quality of life of the older ones, has transformed itself in an important and relevant social problem, demanding new answers for prominent questions. This work aims to reflect about the issues associated to aging and its contribute to the forensic and social exclusion psychologist in its search for practices and solutions that promote and support a positive aging. So, it´s described the play role of older people on society and the issues of getting older, focusing the questions of aging and taking into account the socioeconomic changes, the individual process of aging and its demographic impact as fundamental elements that engage the older ones in society, State role play and Civil society and the answers that have been given to the purpose of minimizing the impact of differences and social exclusion of the older people, the active aging as a life project capable of giving sense to a life phase that can de dignified and the inclusion as an element and intervention model, fundamental for a full integration in society and to life quality. Actually, it defends the importance of the role played by psychologists of the forensic and social exclusion area in all its dynamics concerning the human aging, on a plan of exclusion prevention and of a full inclusion of the older people in its distinct social life areas where they move.
