A medicina de felinos avança à medida que estes se tornam os "queridinhos" dos lares modernos. Cabe aos médicos veterinários atualizarem-se sobre as suas particularidades e necessidades para poderem oferecer um atendimento efetivo e certeiro, especialmente no que diz respeito ao aparelho digestivo, que pode ser afetado por diversas patologias de gravidades variadas e sintomatologia semelhante. A presente dissertação, realizada no âmbito da conclusão do Mestrado Integrado em Medicina Veterinária pela Universidade Lusófona, teve como objetivo principal, explorar a Gastroenterologia dos felinos, com uma revisão das principais patologias que podem acometer esse aparelho orgânico, assim como os sinais clínicos, meios de diagnóstico, abordagem terapêutica e prevenção e controlo dessas patologias. O trabalho relata seis casos clínicos relacionados ao aparelho digestivo de felinos, acompanhados durante o período do estágio, com foco na abordagem clínica e terapêutica utilizada em cada caso.
Feline medicine advances as cats become the “darlings” of modern homes. It is up to veterinarians to update themselves on feline specificities and needs to be able to offer effective and accurate care, especially regarding the digestive system, which can be affected by several pathologies of varying severity and similar symptoms. The present dissertation, carried out as part of the completion of the Integrated Master's Degree in Veterinary Medicine at the Universidade Lusófona, had as its main objective to explore the Gastroenterology of felines, with a review of the main pathologies that can affect this organic system, as well as the clinical signs, means of diagnosis, therapeutic approach and prevention and control of these pathologies. The work reports six clinical cases related to the feline gastrointestinal system, followed during the internship period, focusing on the clinical and therapeutic approach used in each case.
