O estudo apresenta como problema de pesquisa, analisar as representações sociais da família e da escola presentes nos pais dos alunos do primeiro ano do primeiro ciclo do ensino fundamental, como forma de contribuição para a melhoria do ensino e aprendizagem e da relação entre família e escola. O universo desta investigação está focado numa escola pública municipal localizada no distrito de Cucaú, cidade do Rio Formoso, Estado de Pernambuco, no Nordeste do Brasil. Para tanto, envolveram-se os pais dos alunos¸ através da aplicação de inquéritos por entrevista como instrumento de levantamento dos dados. Assim sendo, a pesquisa com uma abordagem qualitativa, sem excluir a abordagem quantitativa. Como resultado verifica-se que, além das limitações entre família e escola há um desencontro entre as instituições. Destaca-se o fato de que os pais não conseguem aceitar as mudanças sofridas na educação ao longo do tempo, mantendo as suas representações sociais de infância e juventude. Do estudo sobressai a importância da gestão democrática na escola, bem como de uma filosofia de respeito, união, participação e trabalho coletivo. Como subsídios de contribuição o estudo sugere uma formação de suporte para escola direcionada ao aprofundamento da investigação sobre a relação escola e família.
The following study seeks to investigate the social representations of the family and school. The controlled variables are the parents of the students of first grade of the first cycle of elementary education level.The main goal is to improve the learning process for students and relationship between parents the school system.The setting chosen for the study is a public school localized in the district of Cucau, within the city of Rio Formoso of Pernambuco, a northern state of Brazil.The methods involved a randomized system to choose the parents for the research study, followed by a quantitative analyses of the date collected.Upon analyses we could determine that there are limitations in the current approach to associate the school system and the parents.We would also like to highlight the following findings; parents are unable to adapt to the changes encountered during their long-term education time,and this is reflected in their sociocultural profile during childhood and adolescente.The research study also proved the importance of a new democratic structure within schools, reflected in the standards of respect,union fellowship,and collective group work among students.Based on the discussed findings,we suggest an improvement to the current system to strengthen the school system in relation to the involvement and unification of the family within the academic setting.
