Resumo
Este trabalho é o resultado do projeto para a construção de uma Escola de Dança
localizado nos terrenos adjacentes ao atual imóvel ocupado pela GNR, na Quinta da
Conceição, em Matosinhos. O decorrer do ato de projetar levou a uma reflexão sobre a
importância do lugar neste contexto.
Como afirma Nesbbit “O propósito existencial do construir [arquitectura] é fazer
um sítio tornar-se num lugar, isto é, revelar os significados presentes de modo latente no
ambiente dado” 1 . Com isto, pode-se concluir que “O Lugar na Arquitetura” (tema
escolhido) é o principal meio introdutório a afetar nas determinações e convicções que o
arquiteto tem perante aquela área de construção.
Porém esta questão do que é o lugar na arquitetura levanta muitas dúvidas, e com
o seu desenvolvimento apercebe-se que esta dissertação encontrar-se realizada em torno
de uma questão extremamente subjetiva e inevitavelmente discutível, pois cada ser
humano tem uma perceção simbólica diferente do outro, com isto elaborou-se uma
divisão deste tema, primeiro com o que pensam diferentes autores sobre o tema (Norberg-
Schulz, Josep Maria Montaner e Yi-Fu Tuan), fazendo uma conclusão sobre esses
mesmos pensamentos, chegando a uma conclusão do que o lugar representa para estes,
de seguida esta apresentada a questão do lugar na Quinta da Conceição, que utilizando
referências aos elementos já construídos no local principalmente ao plano de Fernando
Távora para aquela área, a construção do pavilhão de ténis (1956-60), o projeto de um
restaurante que tem para a mesma localização do projeto da escola de dança, as piscinas
projetadas por Siza Vieira e por fim a escola de dança projetada para a disciplina de
projeto.
This work is the result of a project for the constrution of a dance school, located adjacent to the current property occupied by the GNR, in Quinta da Conceição in Matosinhos. The course of the project led to a reflection regarding to the importance of the place in this context. As stated by Nesbbit “The existential purpose of building (architecture) is therefore to make a site become a place, that is, to uncover the meanings potentially presente in the given environment”2. With this, it can be conclued that “The Place in the Architecture” (chosen topic) is the primary meaning of introduction that affects the determinations and convictions that an architect has by facing that area of constrution. However this question of what is the place in the architecture raises many doubts, and with its development we can realise that the dissertation lies performed around an extremely subjective question and inevitably debatable, because every human being has a different symbolic perception of the other, due to this it was elaborated a division of the theme, first with different authors opinious about the theme (Norberg-Schulz, Josep Maria Montaner and Yi-Fu Tuan), making a conclusion of these same thoughts, reaching a conclusion of what the place represents for those, then it is presented the question of the place in Quinta da Conceição, that by using the reference to elements already built on the place, mainly to the Fernando Távora plan to that area. The constrution of a tennis pavilion (1956-60), the design of a restaurant that he has for the same locacion of the dance school, the pools designed by Siza Vieira and finally the school dance designd for the discipline of the project..
