The kidneys are organs responsible for regulating some hormones, acid-base and water balance, in addition to filtering fluids, which will later be transformed into urine. Among the main diseases caused in companion animals, acute kidney injury/injury (AKI), chronic kidney disease (CKD) and glomerulopathy stand out. Leishmaniasis is a disease caused by the protozoan Leishmania spp. that it is a systemic disease, which can affect the skin, visceral organs. The kidneys are the organs most affected due to the deposition of immune complexes that will lead to kidney damage, and consequently glomerulonephritis, with membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis being commonly observed. In this dissertation, 5 cases of dogs diagnosed with leishmaniasis and CKD were studied. Such an association has become increasingly frequent, however, as the main consequence/cause involved in the disease is glomerulonephritis, whose diagnosis is only possible through renal biopsy, and in most cases tutors choose not to perform the procedure. , the definitive diagnosis ends up not being made. This fact is common to all animals in the present study. It is also worth noting that this association makes the prognosis and survival of affected patients worse and shorter. Keywords: dogs, glomerulonephritis, kidney damage, Leishmania
