Resumo
Objetivos: (i) Caracterizar o perfil morfofuncional e técnico-tático do jovem praticante de Karate-D? A avaliação dos praticantes compreendeu quatro dimensões, i.e.: (i) características biossociais e prática desportiva; (ii) avaliação morfológica; (iii) avaliação funcional; e (iv) avaliação técnico-tática. Objectives: (i) To characterise the morphofunctional and technical-tactical profile of the young practitioner of Shotokan Karate-Dō in the disciplines of Kata and Kumite; and (ii) to study the differences in the multidisciplinary profile of young practitioners of the disciplines of Kata and Kumite. Methods: The total sample of the study was made up of 54 practitioners, divided into two (2) groups, from the junior and cadet/junior ranks, male and female, in the disciplines of Kata (n = 26) and Kumite (n = 28). The assessment of the practitioners comprised four dimensions, i.e.: (i) biosocial characteristics and sports practice; (ii) morphological assessment; (iii) functional assessment; and (iv) technical-tactical assessment. Results: In the Kata discipline, significant differences were observed between juvenile and cadet/junior karate-kas in (i) height (p = 0.040) and handgrip strength (right, p = 0.009; left, p < 0.001) of male participants; and (ii) fat mass (p = 0.012), subcutaneous fat (p = 0.012), body water (p = 0.012), sit-ups (p = 0.048), push-ups (p = 0.024), and intermediate technical-tactical assessments (Physical: Bassai Dai, p = 0.048; Jion, p = 0.024; Enpi, p = 0.048; Kanku Dai, p = 0.024; Technical: Kanku Dai, p = 0.048;) and advanced (Physical: Kanku Sho, p = 0.048; Gojushiho Sho, p = 0.033) of the female participants. In the Kumite discipline, there were significant differences between the two groups (juvenile vs. cadet/junior) in the time spent practising sport (p = 0.015), height (p = 0.007), right handgrip (p = 0.020) and left handgrip (p = 0.001) of the male participants. Conclusion: The results from this study are intended to enable the design of training programmes and the identification of talent by various professionals in the sport - sports scientists, physiologists, sports medicine doctors, researchers and coaches - who regularly work with younger players, in particular by comparing the normative data of these high-level players with other players of the same age and gender and monitoring their strengths and weaknesses.
