Este relatório de estágio contempla a exposição do trabalho realizado ao longo de seis meses de estágio curricular, a casuística observada durante esse período de tempo, uma revisão bibliográfica sobre CE gastrointestinais em cães, a apresentação de cinco casos clínicos e a sua respetiva discussão. Os cinco casos clínicos foram obtidos no Hospital Veterinário das Laranjeiras, correspondiam a 5 machos, com idades entre os 3 meses e os 12 anos. Os sinais clínicos mais comuns resultantes da ingestão de CE foram a regurgitação e o vómito. Os principais métodos de diagnóstico realizados foram as radiografias torácicas e abdominais simples, dado que todos os CE ingeridos eram radiopacos. A abordagem terapêutica inicial consistiu na remoção dos CE por endoscopia, mas em 4 dos 5 casos foi necessário recorrer à cirurgia para a sua remoção. A taxa de mortalidade foi de 0% e apenas um doente desenvolveu complicações.
This internship report contemplates the exhibition of the work done over six months of internship, the sample observed during this period of time, a literature review of gastrointestinal foreign bodies in dogs, the presentation of five clinical cases and their respective discussion. These cases were obtained at the Hospital Veterinário das Laranjeiras and included 5 male dogs with ages between 3 months and 12 years. The more common clinical signs were regurgitation and vomit. The main diagnostic methods performed were thoracic and abdominal radiographs since all the foreign bodies were radiopaque. The initial therapeutic approach consisted in removing the foreign bodies by endoscopy, although surgery was also necessary in 4 of the 5 cases. Mortality rate was 0% and only one patient developed post-surgery complications.
