Ordinance No. 255/2023 of 7 August encourages the use of parametric models through the application of the BIM methodology in the development of public works projects. Given the lack of parametric systems for modelling LSF structures, it is considered important to integrate this construction technology into BIM modelling software. This study aims to develop methods for modelling and parameterising LSF structures using the BIM methodology. It proposes the development of templates and parametric families to facilitate the design and structural analysis of light steel frame structures. In this context, the following software is employed: Autodesk Revit for architectural and structural modelling, Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis for structural analysis, and mCalcLSF, developed by the company Stabile. This comparative analysis seeks to evaluate the workflow, level of interoperability, and construction detailing. A case study is conducted on a residential building to be rehabilitated, located in Alto da Ajuda, Lisbon. The study demonstrates that it is possible to model LSF structures using the BIM methodology in the context of building rehabilitation, achieving a high level of detail, while also positioning LSF as a viable alternative to traditional construction methods.
