Taking the television series American Gods, adapted from the homonymous novel written by Neil Gaiman, as its main object of analysis, the present research aims at the presence of the Author's Voice in the resulting audiovisual product after the adaptation process. In addition, considering the longevity of a TV series format project, attention will also be paid to the effects inflicted to this element, resulting from possible aesthetic variations that may occur in the transitions in between seasons. To verify the hypothesis that a television adaptation can be considered an extension of the original author's voice, the analytical practice will seek to examine, in detail, the characteristics of the narrative text presented both in Gaiman’s literary works and in each of the three seasons of the adapted series released from 2017 to 2021. In this way, it is believed, it will be possible to confront, in addition to the content that constitutes the narrative, the way in which this same story is told in different media by different writing crews and, thus, to verify if it is possible for something that resembles the original way to tell the story to be maintained even when undergoing the changes inherent to the adaptation process and, in case of a confirmation, what are the conditions for this to occur.
