dc.description.abstractAs ruturas da manica flexora (MF) são a segunda causa mais frequente de tenossinovites não infeciosas em equinos, sendo uma causa frequente de claudicação. Por serem um desafio diagnóstico, requerem experiência e qualidades técnicas de diagnóstico aprimoradas. Visto o conhecimento detalhado da anatomia do membro distal do equino ser essencial para a obtenção de diagnósticos precisos e a aplicação de terapêuticas adequadas, o presente trabalho tem por objetivo, numa primeira parte, descrever os meios e técnicas de diagnóstico atualmente disponíveis para identificar ruturas e descrever a estrutura anatómica da MF, bem como a anatomia da bainha dos tendões flexores e das estruturas intratecais. Numa segunda parte, apresenta três casos clínicos diagnosticados com ruturas da MF, acompanhados pela autora durante o período de estágio curricular realizado na Klinic für Pferde da Universidade Livre de Berlim, entre setembro de 2022 e janeiro de 2023. Segue-se a discussão, na qual a autora estabelece um paralelismo entre, por um lado, os sinais clínicos, o processo de diagnóstico e os tratamentos indicados pela literatura em casos de ruturas da MF, e, por outro, os casos clínicos acompanhados ao longo do estágio. Em última análise, a autora pretende, através da descrição da anatomia da região e das técnicas utilizadas na atualidade, fazer um ponto de situação no que se refere ao diagnóstico e tratamento de ruturas da manica flexora em equinos. Por fim, a autora compila numa conclusão as ideias chave retiradas do presente trabalho, terminando com sugestões de estudos futuros que considera pertinentes. dc.description.abstractManica flexoria ruptures represent the second most frequent cause of non-infectious tenosynovitis in equines, often leading to lameness. Due to their diagnostic complexity, addressing these ruptures demands heightened diagnostic expertise and technical skills. Given that a comprehensive understanding of the anatomy of the equine distal limb is crucial for precise diagnoses and the application of appropriate therapies, this study aims, in its initial segment, to outline the currently available means and techniques for diagnosing manica flexoria ruptures. It also seeks to describe the anatomical structure of the manica flexoria, along with the anatomy of the digital flexor tendon sheath and intratecal structures. The second part presents three clinical cases diagnosed with manica flexoria ruptures, observed by the author during an internship at the Klinic für Pferde of the Free University of Berlin, between September 2022 and January 2023. This is followed by a detailed discussion, where the author draws connections between clinical signs, diagnostic processes, and recommended treatments outlined in the literature for cases of manica flexoria ruptures. This analysis is then compared with specific clinical cases observed during the internship. The overarching aim is to present a comprehensive overview of the current landscape in diagnosing and treating manica flexoria ruptures, achieved through a meticulous exploration of the anatomy of the region and the application of contemporary diagnostic techniques. In the concluding section, the author synthesizes key insights from this study, ending with relevant suggestions for future research initiatives.
