no nosso país.
Stalking is considered a relatively recent subject of study, particularly in the national territory. Some researchers reveal a certain difficulty in obtaining clear and definitive answers in order to create a definition. It is a phenomenon that require multiplicity of behaviors and contains a diverse and heterogeneous spectrum of victims and perpetrators. The perceptions regarding this phenomenon are considered uncertain, varying in a continuous of reactions and emotions, being the self-perception an influential criterion for the recognition of the experience. The aim of this study is to analyze the predictive factors of self-perception of stalking victim experience according to the severity, frequency and duration of stalking behaviors suffered, as well as the type of victim-stalker relationship. The results suggest that about half of the sample experienced at least one behavior. However, some criteria have proved to be determinant for the self-perception of the experience as violent, therefore those who experienced strategies of persecution and surveillance, being photographed and/or filmed without authorization and those who suffered more repetitive behavior were more likely to recognize themselves. as victims of this type of conduct. These data suggest the need to reflect on the adequacy of the legal text recently approved in our country.
