Participaram no
No entanto nenhum
The present study analyzed the concepts of physical education teachers about the role (objectives and purposes) of the discipline in the school curriculum, the concept of a student "physically well-educated" at the end of high school and about the recommendations of Physical Activity of the World Organization for the age group between 5 and 17 years of age. Twenty-nine teachers from the Physical Education discipline of 5 schools in the Lisbon area participated in the study, through a questionnaire adapted from the research project carried out by the European Network of Physical Activity and Health (REAFES). The data analysis was performed through the inductive method, and in the open questions a content analysis was performed using the categorization of responses. The analysis of the results indicated that teachers emphasize the role of Physical Education in the school curriculum, as a determining factor for the promotion of active and healthy lifestyles, promotion of learning and educational effects, ethical values and effort. When approached about the concept of what is a physically well-educated student at the end of high school, they emphasize that they should possess knowledge related to physical fitness and health, and skills that enable them to an active lifestyle, through a regular practice of physical activity. However, no teacher in the study revealed knowledge about the recommendations of physical activity practice for the indicated age group, responding incorrectly or incompletely.
