Sedentary lifestyle and obesity are considered the pandemic of the modern world. Contrariwise, the practice of physical exercise, the green exercise has been seen as crucial to the subjective well-being of individuals. The population of young university students is a population at risk for sedentary lifestyle, as they tend to have an inadequate diet and reduce the practice of physical exercise. Thus, this dissertation intends to study the relationship between physical exercise practiced in nature and subjective well-being, happiness, affection and motivational regulation regarding the eating behavior of individuals, based on the theory of self-determination. Two studies were developed to meet these goals, using two samples of university students. Findings of the first study confirm the association between the nature relatedness and physical exercise performed in a natural context, as well as the positive impact of the latter on subjective well-being. The second study allowed us to conclude the positive impact of outdoor physical exercise on the motivational regulation of eating behavior, as well as the positive relationship of motivation with the nature relatedness. This dissertation’s fundings provide important clues for intervention at the level of sedentary lifestyle of young university students.
