dc.description.abstractO objetivo deste trabalho é identificar quais os portos portugueses que foram tecnicamente mais eficientes, no período entre 2004 – 2013, estimando um valor para a eficiência portuária através da relação entre a produção e os recursos disponíveis. Em concreto, analisou-se a relação entre o movimento portuário, ou seja, o movimento de cargas gerais, granéis líquidos e granéis sólidos, com as características dos portos, tais como: o tamanho total de cais acostável e o nº de navios que entraram nos principais portos portugueses nos referidos anos. A área delineada para o estudo foi os portos portugueses, nomeadamente os portos de: Aveiro, Figueira da Foz, Lisboa, Leixões, Setúbal e Sines. Utilizou-se a técnica DEA (Data Envelopment Analisys). Conclui-se que em relação aos portos, o tamanho do porto não é a razão principal da ineficiência nos portos, pois não foi observado uma relação direta entre o tamanho e a eficiência, nesse estudo existe eficiência em portos de pequeno e grande porte, da mesma maneira que verifica-se ineficiência nos portos de pequena e grande dimensão, existindo assim outros fatores que influenciam a ineficiência nos portos.pt
dc.description.abstractThe objective of this study is to identify which Portuguese ports that were technically more efficient in the period between 2004 - 2013, estimating a value for the port efficiency through the relationship between production and resources available. Specifically, we analyzed the relationship between the port movement, namely the movement of general cargo, bulk liquids and bulk solids, with the characteristics of ports, such as the total size of wharf and the number of vessels that entered in the main Portuguese ports in those years. The area outlined for the study was the Portuguese ports, including the ports of: Aveiro, Figueira da Foz, Lisbon, Leixoes, Setubal and Sines. We used the technique DEA (Data Envelopment Analisys), it follows that in relation to ports, the port size is not the main reason for inefficiency in ports because it was not observed a direct relationship between the size and efficiency, in this study there is efficiency in small and large ports, the Just as there is inefficiency in small and large ports, so there other factors that influence the inefficiency in ports.en
