No entanto,
Currently, the phenomenon of Burnout stands out as an important academic and social issue, both nationally, and internationally. However, national research on Burnout among GPs is clearly insufficient. For these reasons, our purpose was to develop an empirical, rigorous and contextualized study, contributing to enlarge the range of search conducted among the security Portuguese forces. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the Burnout among this professional group and analyze its relationship with sociodemographic, employment variables, lifestyles and Coping Strategies (N = 180). The results documented that 2.2% of respondents showed a syndrome compatible with this condition, and besides that, the others who does not have yet the syndrome, are, themselves at risk of developing it. It was also found that levels of Burnout are related to variables of different orders, which attests to the complex and multidimensional nature of the problem. There is a need of intervention plans for the prevention and or reduction of this type of difficulty in this group of work.
