Alexitimia, crime e saúde mental : um estudo exploratório com a população reclusa masculina em Portugal

A nível nacional, pouco se conhece acerca da alexitimia em contexto prisional e da sua
relação com o crime e a saúde mental. Assim, o presente estudo pretende estimar as taxas de
prevalência de alexitimia e os indicadores de psicopatologia, analisar a relação entre a
alexitimia e indicadores de psicopatologia, analisar a relação entre indicadores de
psicopatologia e a prática de violência e a criminalidade e, por fim, analisar a relação entre
a alexitimia e a prática de violência e criminalidade. Recorreu-se a uma amostra de 169
reculos de vários Estabelecimentos Prisionais ao longo do país. Foram aplicados como
instrumentos a Escala de Alexitimia de Toronto de 20 itens (TAS-20), um questionário
sociodemográfico e criminal e o Inventário de Sintomas Psicopatológicos (BSI). Os
resultados revelam uma prevalência de 22.4% de alexitimia e de 33.3% de perturbações
emocionais. Verificamos uma associação entre as dimensões do BSI e a alexitimia. A
