This study aims to analyze how an operational museological chain would apply in the musealization of objects made in stained glass, and also, how this operational chain would be, if conceived according to sociomuseology concepts. The study is the observation of the urgent need for a preservational systematization process applied to safeguarding stained glass. Factors such as unawareness in dealing with this type of collection, or even poor judgement at it's unquestionable role as supporting architecture, were probably crucial to that, historically, very few initiatives have been implemented to the preservation of stained glass in Brazilian lands. Throughout the chapters of this study, the main concepts of sociomuseology are presented, from its earliest documents to its application to the main stages of a museum's operational chain - Documentation, Preservation, Exhibition and Educational Action - finally being completed with the hypothesis of its role in musealization of stained glass. Along the study, it is clear that the potential of the outcome from the sociomuseological treatment of stained glass is very large, highly significant and much needed. It is also possible to see that the possibilities of integration and partnership with the community that sociomuseologyical processes would provide, are the missing step to enable museums to act as true agents of development and social awareness.
