The Core Emotional Needs are essential for psychological well-being and mental health. These impulses result in interactions between biopsychosocial experiences learned in childhood. When these needs are not satisfied, the frustration of emotional needs becomes the focus of psychopathology. The transdiagnostic approach arises from the need for more comprehensive and dimensional methods for the intervention of mental problems. Instead of focusing on specific diagnoses, this approach goal is to identify and treat common underlying factors, providing a more comprehensive intervention. The emotional regulation, one of the transdiagnostic factors, is frequently associated with various mental disorders, as they share similar patterns of emotional dysfunction, such as anxiety and depression. In this sense, the present study proposes to answer the extent to which Core Emotional Needs, Symptoms, Well-Being and Psychological Distress are related to each other. Until now, there was no objective questionnaire with direct measures of core emotional needs, however, this was developed, and the present study will use it and apply it to the portuguese population. This quantitative and correlational study utilized a total sample of 103 participants, aged between 21 and 76 years. The participants answered a questionnaire on the Qualtrics platform, and the data were analyzed using SPSS v.28 software. After data processing, the results indicate that the more Core Emotional Needs are satisfied, the higher the levels of Psychological Well-Being and the lower the levels of Symptomatology and Psychological Distress, concluding that the Core Emotional Needs are associated with and predict Symptomatology, Well-Being, and Psychological Distress.
