Impacto da discriminação na comunidade LGBTQI+ : o papel da vergonha e do suporte social

O presente estudo tem como objetivo fulcral compreender o impacto da
discriminação e desigualdade na comunidade LGBTQI+. Sendo o impacto analisado ao
nível da saúde mental, abrangendo medidas de bem-estar psicológico, ansiedade,
depressão e vergonha interna. A amostra foi formada por 122 participantes, 60 (49.2%)
do género feminino, 34 (27.9%) do género masculino, 2 pessoas identificadas como
transgénero e 1 não binária (2.4%), com idades compreendidas entre os 18 e os 69 anos
(M = 32,4, DP = 11.0). Esta amostra é composta por dois grupos: o primeiro grupo
composto por 60 participantes cis e heteronormativos, e o segundo grupo por 62
participantes LGBTQI+. Foram utilizados instrumentos para avaliação do bem-estar
psicológico, dos sintomas clínicos de depressão e ansiedade e ainda uma escala de
vergonha interna. Os resultados obtidos neste estudo revelam que a comunidade
LGBTQI+ apresenta níveis superiores de ansiedade, depressão e vergonha interna
comparativamente com os não LGBTQI+, que apresentaram níveis superiores de bem estar psicológico. Concluiu-se ainda que níveis superiores de vergonha interna, mas
inferiores de suporte social intensificam o impacto da discriminação experienciada na
saúde mental pela comunidade LGBTQI+.
This study aims to crucial to understand the impact of inequality and discrimination in the LGBTQI+ community. The impact being analyzed at the level of psychological functioning, encompassing measures of psychological well-being, anxiety, depression and internal shame. The sample consisted of by 122 participants, 60 (49.2%) were female, 34 (27.9%) were male, 2 (1.6%) transgender, 1 (0.8%) non-binary, aged between 18 and 69 years (M= 32.4, SD= 11.0). This sample was divided into two groups, according to the sexual orientation of the participants. in which the first group is composed of 60 heteronormative participants, and the second group of non heteronormative participants. Self-report instruments were used to assess inequality, assess discrimination, a scale to assess psychological well-being, psychological symptoms and an internal shame scale. The results obtained in this study indicate that the LGBTQI+ community has higher levels of anxiety, depression and internal shame compared to heteronormative, who showed higher levels of psychological well-being. It was also concluded that higher levels of internal shame are not associated with discrimination and inequality experienced by the LGBTQI+ community.
