Under the Masters degree in Football – from trainee to top-level competition, from Lusófona University of Humanities and Technologies, an internship report was developed on the curricular internship carried out in the Under-17 football team from “Os Belenenses” sports club. The internship group was inserted in the National Under-17 Championship, a very competitive context which had 3 distinct phases: 1st phase, 2nd and champion phase. The team was constituted by athletes born between the years 2005 and 2006. At the beginning of the 1st phase of the Championship the team had 31 athletes 3 of whom were born in 2006 and 28 were born in 2005. At the end of the season there were 27 athletes, 4 of whom were born in 2006 and 23 were born in 2005. As a member of the coaching staff, I was responsible for analyzing the matches considering the adopted game model and strategic approach and subsequently presenting it to the technical team and to the athletes. The most important factors to consider for the training plan and for the competition process are found in the analysis and reflection carried out through the video of the game. The strategic approach to be considered for the next game are carefully discussed after each video analysis. The technical-scientific study aimed to analyze the relationship between technical performance in training and technical performance in competitive games for each position. The performance value in training (PST) was 8.48, and the performance value in game (PSJ) was 6.06. Left central defenders (DCE) presented the highest value for PSJ, 11.33. Central defenders (DC) had the highest value for PST, 8.43. Forwards (AV) showed a strong relationship between PST and PSJ, with a value of p = 0.93. The EXT position shows significant differences between the value obtained in training and in the game for Performance Value (p = 0.01). Lastly, we can conclude that there are significant differences between the Performance Value in training and in the game (p < 0.01). The internship process allowed for my development of knowledge related to Football. It extended my ability to manage athletes close to the senior context and enabled the acquisition of skills inherent of increasing responsibilities in a high-context environment. Keywords: Technical actions; Performance analysis; Athlete development; Training periodization
