Num cenário global marcado por volatilidade, incerteza, complexidade e ambiguidade (VUCA), agora ampliado pela fragilidade, ansiedade, não linearidade e incompreensibilidade (BANI), a capacidade das organizações de manter operações essenciais durante crises tornou-se uma competência estratégica. Esta dissertação analisa a Gestão da Continuidade do Negócio como ferramenta fundamental para o fortalecimento da resiliência organizacional e melhoria na gestão de crises. Através de uma revisão bibliográfica e da aplicação de um questionário a 20 organizações portuguesas, estuda-se quais são as melhores práticas ou lições de gestão da continuidade do negócio e resiliência aprendidas nos ambientes VUCA e BANI pelas organizações portuguesas para garantir a sua continuidade. Os resultados revelam que as organizações adotam algumas práticas de gestão de continuidade do negócio e existe uma preocupação com a mesma, mas ainda há algum caminho a percorrer para desenvolver uma gestão forte de continuidade do negócio e se tornarem resilientes.
In a global scenario marked by volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity (VUCA), now amplified by brittleness, anxiety, non-linearity and incomprehensibility (BANI), the ability of organizations to maintain essential operations during crises has become a strategic competence. This dissertation analyzes Business Continuity Management (BCM) as a fundamental tool for strengthening organizational resilience and improvement of crisis’ management. Through a literature review and the application of an inquiry to 20 Portuguese organizations, we study the best practices or lessons learned in business continuity management and resilience in VUCA and BANI environments by Portuguese organizations to ensure their continuity. The results reveal that organizations adopt some business continuity management practices and there is a concern about business continuity management, but there is still some way to go to develop a strong business continuity management and become resilient organizations.
