O objetivo
Online and offline journalism are forms of information transmission that play an important role in modern society. Offline journalism has been through several transformations over time, but it remains a bet of the big media companies, while the emergence of online journalism is taking more space in people's daily lives. In this dynamic, an important factor to be studied is how Breaking News is worked on in these two vehicles. Based on theoretical and practical questions from these two journalistic media, the question that guides this research was given: “How does the problem of Breaking News work in the online newspaper, and what is the difference in journalistic production between online and offline media?”. The study subjects of this work are Breaking News, observed from the Portuguese newspaper JN printed and JN online; and also from the Brazilian newspaper O GLOBO and O GLOBO online. The general objective of the work is to point out the differences in the dissemination and creation of information between online journalism and offline journalism based on the analysis of the so-called “Breaking News”. Also, 3 hypotheses were raised, of which they are: a) When analyzed from Breaking News, the digital newspaper has more space due to the instantaneous dissemination of information; b)The printed newspaper is becoming obsolete and with fewer and fewer readers, even from the renowned Brazilian and Portuguese press networks, objects of study of this work; c) The same theme that motivated a Breaking News online is dealt with in a more developed way in the printed version. From these hypotheses, it can be seen that hypotheses “a” and “c” were confirmed, while hypothesis “b” was not confirmed. To carry out this work, the hypothetical-deductive method was used, with the use of primary and secondary sources.
