Assim, a
nomeadamente, Pubmed, PsychInfo, Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection e
Scopus.
estimular a mente.
apoio familiar e social e a reorganização do trabalho.
Scientific research has shown evidence that cancer patients show changes in cognitive development, particularly in memory functions, the speed of information processing and attention. Faced with these situations, cancer survivors develop coping strategies to overcome cognitive changes and to minimize their impact in their daily life. Consequently, this systematic review seeks to analyse the most used coping strategies to deal with chemobrain by cancer patients. The analysed publications were indexed in scientific databases, such as Pubmed, PsychInfo, Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection and Scopus. A systematic review was carried out regarding scientific literature between January 2009 and July 2020, resulting in the inclusion of five articles published in English and the exclusion of 77 articles. The results revealed that the most used strategies by cancer patients were written strategies and activities to stimulate the mind. Other mentioned strategies were physical exercise, family and social support and work reorganization. Concerning the less used strategies, spirituality and humour were mentioned. This systematic review concluded that it was of vital importance for cancer patients to be alerted to the cognitive consequences of chemotherapy treatments, as well as to be provided with coping strategies to mitigate them. However, these results cannot be generalized due to the lack of included study cases.
