Resumo
A dissertação realizada no âmbito do Mestrado Integrado em Arquitectura, na
Universidade Lusófona do Porto, tem como objectivo a apresentação de um estudo sobre o
uso do tijolo cerâmico face à vista. A história e a abundância, ou em alguns casos a
escassez do material, tiveram um impacto na forma como a aplicação do material foi
explorada e evoluindo.
Enquanto material de revestimento, o tijolo é pouco utilizado em Portugal, sendo
considerado mais como um material de suporte para receber os mais variados
acabamentos. Esta dissertação tem como objectivo abordar a aplicação do material e
apresentar casos de estudo onde a presença deste sistema construtivo se torna
determinante.
The dissertation held under the Integrated Master in Architecture, at Universidade Lusófona do Porto, aims to present a study on the use of brick. History and abundance, or in some cases the scarcity of the material, had an impact on how the application of the material was explored and evolved. As a covering material, the brick is little used in Portugal, being considered more as a support material to receive the most varied finishes. This dissertation aims to approach the application of the material and present case studies where the presence of this constructive system becomes decisive.
