Seniores, práticas digitais e idadismo : investigação-ação participativa na Academia Sénior de Gaia

Resumo
À medida que envelhece, a sociedade portuguesa é, também, cada vez mais digital. Tendo este cenário como enquadramento, esta dissertação, a partir da dinamização de oficinas, de carácter prático, interventivo e reflexivo, na Academia Sénior de Gaia, situada no distrito do Porto, procurou perceber a forma como os seniores participantes percecionam as suas competências digitais e em que medida é que essa perceção é afetada pelo idadismo. As conclusões remetem para as oficinas como meio para, por um lado, desenvolver competências digitais e potenciar debates neste enquadramento com o público que tem menos iniciativas destinadas a este respeito; e, por outro, estimular a autoestima e confiança destas pessoas sobre as suas competências e aprendizagens. Este tipo de trabalhos apresenta-se como fulcral porque permite acompanhar estas transformações societais, através de abordagens situadas, que desafiam as tendências homogeneizadoras em que os debates e políticas sobre seniores e o digital frequentemente incorrem. As Portuguese society ages, it is also increasingly digital. Against this backdrop, this dissertation, based on the dynamisation of practical, interventional and reflective workshops at the Academia Sénior de Gaia, located in the district of Porto, sought to understand how the participating seniors perceive their digital skills and to what extent this perception is affected by ageism. The conclusions point to the workshops as a means of, on the one hand, developing digital skills and fostering debates in this context with an audience that has fewer initiatives in this regard; and, on the other hand, stimulating these people's self-esteem and confidence in their skills and learning. This type of work is crucial because it makes it possible to accompany these societal transformations through situated approaches that challenge the homogenising tendencies that debates and policies on seniors and the digital world often fall into.
