e no desenvolvimento físico, emocional e social.
atividades lúdicas, culturais e esportivas, e do desenvolvimento pessoal.
This research aims to analyze according to testimonies from adolescent participants and Managers the contribution of the Program for the Eradication of Child Labor (PETI) in the educational process of children and adolescents that benefit from the program in the city of João Pessoa – Paraíba. To do this, we combine the material collected in the interviews, the bibliography and documentary, aiming to capture issues related to the proposed subject. We chose a qualitative, exploratory research, so that through individual semi-structured interviews we could learn about the contributions of the program on the education of the adolescents that are the subjects of this investigation. The sample consisted of twelve adolescents and three Managers. Child labor in Brazil has complex causes, however, for many scholars, there are several reasons: the economic necessity of maintaining family, cultural reproduction of myths about child labor and the lack of universal public policies for attending children's, adolescents and their families rights. The early work negatively interferes with the education of children and their physical, emotional and social development. Due to this situation, the PETI was established in 1996 with the goal of “removing 7-15 year-old children and adolescents from jobs that are considered dangerous, painful, unhealthy or degrading.” It was found that the program fosters a significant increase in learning, in addition to the importance and the positive effects of the program on the access to recreational, cultural and sportive activities, and personal development.
