competitividade.
In recent years, companies have increasingly focused on how to stand out from their competitors and reach their goal, the competitiveness. Companies find it difficult to set themselves apart from each other and, as such, they are becoming aware of the importance of Human Resource Management (HRM) to be competitive. This research aims to understand if SMEs in Lisbon consider HRM important for their competitiveness. A research was conducted by means of a survey with 29 closed questions to 110 SMEs from various economical activities in Lisbon. The conclusion is that those SMEs consider HRM a positive influence on their competitiveness. Despite some limitations, namely the deadline and the limited collaboration from the participating companies, this research aims to demonstrate that along with large enterprises, small and medium-sized enterprises also recognize the important role HRM has in meeting their goals.
