Perpetração de violência e saúde mental na prisão : comparação entre Portugal e Cabo Verde

Resumo
Com este estudo pretendemos caracterizar em termos sociodemográficos e
criminais os reclusos de Portugal e Cabo Verde e compará-los em termos sociodemográficos
e criminais, comparar os reclusos de Portugal e Cabo Verde em termos de indicadores de
psicopatologia e nível de violência perpetrada, analisar a possível ligação entre a presença
de indicadores de psicopatologia/problemas de saúde mental e os níveis de violência
perpetrada. O número total de participantes neste estudo foi de 796 reclusos, sendo que 138
eram do sexo feminino e 658 eram do sexo masculino. Foram utilizados como instrumentos
o Questionário sociodemográfico e criminal e o BSI - Inventário de Sintomas
Psicopatológicos (BSI). Os resultados demonstraram que a violência prisional e a saúde
mental estão associadas, e que Cabo Verde tem níveis mais elevados de psicopatologia.
