dc.description.abstractEste trabalho apresenta o projeto "I Have to Go, I Learn by Going Where", desenvolvido no âmbito do Mestrado em Fotografia, com foco na interseção entre viagem, memória e prática fotográfica. O estudo explora a viagem como um espaço de reflexão e autodescoberta, destacando a relação entre memória herdada, experiência pessoal e a recontextualização de territórios. A fotografia, aqui, transcende o simples registo visual, emergindo como um processo contemplativo e criativo que questiona a presença, a ausência e a busca pelo fotogénico. O projeto culmina na criação de um livro de artista, produzido pela editora Stolen Books, integrando uma seleção de imagens e material do diário gráfico da autora. Este livro, concebido como um objeto intertextual e dinâmico, incorpora costuras metafóricas e elementos gráficos que dialogam com a ideia de mapa e narrativa visual. A estrutura editorial inclui inserções textuais que reforçam a dimensão experimental e a fluidez interpretativa do trabalho. A abordagem metodológica adota uma perspectiva crítica sobre os desafios e contradições da prática fotográfica e artística, reavaliando a viagem como extensão do quotidiano e fonte de significados. Este projeto reafirma a prática artística como um meio de resignificar o banal e o desconhecido, propondo novos caminhos para explorar as relações entre fotografia, escrita e memória. dc.description.abstractThis work presents the project “I Have to Go, I Learn by Going Where,” developed as part of the Master's in Photography, focusing on the intersection of travel, memory, and photographic practice. The study explores travel as a space for reflection and self-discovery, emphasizing the relationship between inherited memory, personal experience, and the recontextualization of territories. Photography here transcends simple visual recording, emerging as a contemplative and creative process that questions presence, absence, and the pursuit of the photogenic. The project culminates in the creation of an artist’s book, produced by the publisher Stolen Books, incorporating a selection of images and material from the author’s graphic journal. This book, conceived as an intertextual and dynamic object, integrates metaphorical stitching and graphic elements that resonate with the idea of a map and visual narrative. The editorial structure includes textual insertions that reinforce the experimental dimension and interpretative fluidity of the work. The methodological approach adopts a critical perspective on the challenges and contradictions of photographic and artistic practice, re-evaluating travel as an extension of everyday life and a source of meaning. This project reaffirms artistic practice as a means to re-signify the ordinary and the unknown, proposing new pathways to explore the relationships between photography, writing, and memory.
